For eye shadow: Decide ahead if you want to use 1, 2, or 3 different eyeshadow colors at once. The colors should get progressively lighter as they are stacked above your eyes.
Choose a primary color (the color you want to stand out the most) and use short strokes to cover your whole eyelid. Apply just enough pressure to lay the color down without caking it onto your lids.
Sparingly apply a lighter eyeshadow color above your primary color and below your eyebrow. You should be able to cover the entire area in one sweep.
To give your eyes a ';smoky'; look, choose a dark blue, gray, or black eyeshadow and brush it around the outer corners of your eyes and blend it into your primary eyeliner. Don't stray further than a quarter inch away from your eyes.
For eyeliner : Draw a thin line as close to the base of your eyelids as possible. Start at the inside corner of your eye and work your way out.
If you're not comfortable with drawing one long line all at once, do it in short strokes.
Experiment with lining the bottom of your eyes the same way for a more dramatic look. When lining your bottom lids, go in the opposite direction: start at the outside corner, and work your way in.
For Mascara: Buy an eyelash curler to help your lashes look their best with the mascara. Never curl your eyelashes after applying mascara or your lashes will stick to the pad on the curler and get yanked out.
Don't pump the mascara wand into the container because it'll push air into the container and dry the mascara out faster. Just insert the wand, turn it a couple of times %26amp; pull it out.
Put the mascara on by running the brush along your lashes - away from your face - in a quick, even stroke. Let the mascara dry between coats to help lashes look thicker. How do you correctly apply eye makeup? and is there a makeup that covers very well? help needed!?
with eyeshadow, i normally buy the kind that has 3 or 4 shades of the color.
-apply the darkest color in a thin line right above your eyeleashes (you could skip this and use eyeliner, but i dont recommend using both, if the darkest shade is really dark)
- overlapping the first layer, apply the next darkest color over just your eyelid, and you can extend it if you want to the inside and outside corners of your eyes, but not out like an egyptian...
- use the next lighter color by starting at the top of your eyelids, and brushing up to your eyelids, in strokes
- if you have 4 colors, use the lightest, by gently brushing it over all of the other colors, as if to somewhat blend it all together.
i recommend using all natural colors, and staying away from crazy blues and purples, etc. because if you use those colors using this methos, it may appear like you have a black eye. i use browns, the darkest being a cocoa color, next is cinmonny, then brown sugar color, and finally, a whitish creme color. my eyeshadow is very powdery which makes it easier to blend it so that the colors all look smooth together. i reccomend using your finger to apply eyeshadow, but thats me...
with eyeliner:
apply above AND below your eyes, or just ABOVE.
DO NOT APPLY ON THE BOTTOM ONLY, as it will make your eyes look baggy. the idea of eyeliner it to ';lift'; your eyes up
mascara: do not use excessive amounts, and again, use on the top. you can do both, but all you really need is the top.
*do not pump the stick in the bottle: when you do that, it traps air in there, trapping more bacteria in your makeup, and then you put it on your eyes. doing this increases the risk of an eye infection....

It sounds like you are just starting out, so try a little at a time...
For eye make-up, there are different looks you can do.
Just brush the eye-pencil along your lower lashes gently, then use your middle finger to gently stretch out your closed eye to apply eyeliner to the top smoothly.
Try not to use to much!
